Aids Walk Washington – October 3, 2009
AIDS Walk Washington is a fundraising 5k timed run/walk. The 5k is organized by and benefits the Whitman-Walker Clinic which is a non-profit health organization which provides dependable high quality health care for people affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS. Army Ten-Miler – October 4, 2009
Be patriotic – Hooah! Come and see the nation’s largest 10-mile run, this year attracting 30,000 runners. Proceeds from this race go to support Soldier Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs for the Army Come stay at the Capitol Hill Suites and watch this historic event. Organized by Green America and Global Exchange, Green Festival helps show and demonstrates what is working in our communities. 51st Annual Washington International Horse Show – October 20-25, 2009
Taking place at the Verizon Center just a short distance from Capitol Hill Suites, the tradition started in 1958 and continues to bring the top riders and horses from all of the U.S. and the rest of the world. The six-day show includes events such as horse jumping, equitation, hunters, and dressage events. Tickets for this event are available through Ticketmaster.
Boo at the Zoo – October 23 – 25, 2009
Boo at the Zoo is a fun and safe trick-or-treat event for all ages. Featuring more than 40 treat stations, delicious candy, and spooky decorations, Boo at the Zoo is one event you will not want to miss. Marine Corps Marathon – October 25, 2009
Otherwise known as the People’s Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon is the 5th largest marathon race in the US and the 10th largest in the world because it offers neither prize money nor appearance fees to draw elite runners. This 26.2 mile race wraps through Arlington, VA and through the nation’s capital. Spectator sites for miles 17 & 18 are located within blocks of the Capitol Hill Suites. D.C. United Games at RFK Stadium – All month long
With RFK Stadium right down the street from Capitol Hill Suites, you can enjoy one of the MLS’ top teams while staying at an awesome hotel. Tour of the United States Capitol – All month long
The tour of the United States Capitol takes place every Monday. Lasting approximately 2 hours, the tour explains why it took 40 years to build the Capitol and why it is continually enlarged. Reservations are not necessary and the cost is $10. This event is within walking distance of Capitol Hill Suites.
The Capitol Hill Culinary Experience – October through February 2, 2010
A fully guided walking tour has been created by DC Metro Food tours. The tour details the neighborhoods 200 years of history through food and architecture. Groups can enjoy the 3-hour tour by experiencing a variety of dishes selected from local restaurants that exhibit the neighborhoods history and cuisine.
