What's Happening in July?
July is an incredible month to visit D.C. Not only can visitors savor D.C.'s tempting selection of restaurants, shops and entertainment, but they can also attend a variety of vibrant events and festivals. Visitors can even experience the thrill of a Nationals' baseball game in the new Nationals' Ballpark. Smithsonian Folklife Festival, July 2-6
The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is a free festival held on the National Mall that showcases living cultural heritage. The Festival includes music, song, dance, celebratory performance, crafts and cooking demonstrations, storytelling, illustrations of workers' culture, and narrative sessions for discussing cultural issues.

Fourth of July Celebration
The National Mall is one of the most spectacular places to celebrate Fourth of July. This all-day affair includes a parade, Colonial military maneuvers, a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra on the U.S. Capitol's west steps and the opportunity to check out the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. An amazing fireworks display rounds out the festivities.

Bastille Day, July 14
Enjoy a unique street festival that celebrates Gallic Independence Day. The celebration features waiters and waitresses from local restaurants racing 12 blocks up to the Capitol and back, while carrying trays of champagne. Following the race the fun continues with live entertainment, concessions and a great party atmosphere.
